studio heat

so despite the heat I have been working in my studio alot this week(fountain st studios, 3rd floor east, no. 9) and without my fan it would be miserable. I finished two paintings and a drawing this week that had been sitting there looking at me while I looked at them. they told me how to finish them so I did. I guess my work was heating up right along with the weather. Here’s this drawing, Plume,  it’s all about a cool plume of water, that I really like, part of my india ink series.

one hot day

so I start with swimming my laps,(7:45am) and proceed to my studio where it’s like 90 degrees at 9:30am, then go to the food project this afternoon to get our weekly produce, and there it’s about 95, and then I go to ali’s swim meet and keep score at 5pm and there it’s probably 100. I love summer but this is hot. Here’s one of the pieces I worked on today. It’s about the Sudbury River and its sorry state of mercury contamination. It’s really not quite done.

We Check Out Bumpkin

Today we  got up and decided to go to Bumpkin Island, so we were on the road by 10:30. We took the wrong exit but still made it to Hingham Shipyard eight minutes before the ferry left. The day was warm but grey, the harbour was foggy and it was great to be on the water.

Bumpkin Island was a nice way to spend  two hours. We hiked all over the island, easy to get around in just over an hour. There are gorgeous wildflowers on the island, and a beautiful limelight. Photos of Bumpkin and my Limelight to follow.

I think there’s potential to continue my limelight series based on Bumpkin Island visuals.
